No Re-Runs

One of the gifts God gives us is that life is circular, with rhythms and ups and downs. We get to see familiar places again; a sunset exploding the sky with yellows, oranges, reds, and blues, the myriads of stars, the sunrise greeting the day; the warmth of Summer, the colors of Fall, the barrenness of Winter, the rebirth of Spring; a new moon, a full moon. ALL of it beautiful in some way (despite griping about how hot Summer is ;) ).
Yet, despite this familiarity, everything is new, each moment stands alone as different from the one before and different from all that have gone before and all that will come. God is a God of no re-runs. We may find ourselves in familiar situations, but each one is new, each to be enjoyed, each with something to learn, (or re-learn). Each moment comes with new choices. Each moment is an opportunity to step closer to God, or to step away from God.

After 26 years of consistent choices to seek God, my heart wants more and more to move towards Him. But, after 26 years of being human, my flesh and (half of my) mind want to move away from Him.
Each moment a new choice. Each moment an opportunity. Life has no re-runs. No need to make the same bad choices as you always have, no reason the good choices will continue on their own.
"As has just been said: "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion."" (Heb 3:15)
"But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness." (Heb 3:13)

I will be content, I will choose to move towards Him, I will follow Him wherever he leads, no re-runs.

P.S. This ties in with my last blog post. =)
